Clinical expertise

Mr Arun Sahai is a consultant urological surgeon in functional urology and reader in urology.

He treats a range of urological conditions such as:

  • bladder dysfunction
  • incontinence
  • urinary tract infections (UTIs)
  • hydroceles
  • epididymal cyst
  • enlarged prostate
  • prostate cancer

He performs a range of investigations and treatments such as:

  • cystoscopy, circumcision, vasectomy, bladder neck incision, haematuria work up
  • prostate specific antigen (PSA) test
  • uroneurology and urinary tract reconstruction
  • artificial urinary sphincter and male slings
  • colposuspension, autologous fascial sling and urethral bulking
  • female and reconstructive urology – ureteric re-implantation, ileal conduit formation, bladder augmentation
  • Botox injections to the bladder
  • sacral nerve stimulation
  • urethral diverticulum surgery
  • vesico-vaginal fistula surgery
  • transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP)


Biography

Mr Arun Sahai, is a consultant urological surgeon in functional urology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ since 2013 and a reader in urology at King’s College London.

Arun qualified from the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals and was trained in urology on the South Thames rotation through the London Deanery. He spent his senior training years in the department of urology at Guy’s Hospital and following this undertook a visiting fellowship with Professor De Ridder at UZ Leuven Hospital in Belgium.

Arun is the lead for undergraduate education in urology at King’s College London. He is also involved in several aspects of postgraduate education including exam setting for the FRCS (Urol), invited faculty to numerous conferences (lectures and chair), and tutor on many female and functional urology courses.

He is currently on the committee of female, neurological and urodynamic urology within BAUS. He is a frequent reviewer for many international urology journals and is currently on the editorial board of neurourology and urodynamics.


Research

Arun’s research interests include various aspects of benign bladder dysfunction. He is active in both commercial and non-commercial clinical trials and has published over 90 peer reviewed international papers and over 15 book chapters.
