Leading the way in kidney transplants and dialysis
We are the primary children’s kidney transplant and dialysis centre for more than 9 million people. The first children’s kidney transplant in England took place at Evelina London more than 50 years ago.
We now undertake approximately 30 transplants per year, with 100 children under our post-transplant follow-up care. We also provide dialysis to 25 children per year and have a large chronic kidney disease service.
Our outcomes are amongst the best in the world and we constantly strive to improve our already outstanding care.
Our paediatric kidney experts help boy to walk again
Our children’s renal team fulfilled 11-year-old Saad Fahad Qasam Alawadhi’s wish to play and walk again – by helping him and his family manage the symptoms of complex primary nephrotic syndrome (NS).
Saad’s mother said: “ The team at Evelina are amazing. I’d like to thank all the team – nurses, doctors and junior training doctors. They took such special care of Saad when he was coming regularly for his treatment. I would also like to thank the play therapist – the school is excellent at Evelina.”
