Our specialists at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals have been advancing heart and lung care for over 100 years – we’re internationally recognised in what we do.

World-leading expertise in heart and lung care

Both our hospitals have been ranked as some of the world’s best in heart and lung care by US Newsweek, the American weekly news magazine. Royal Brompton Hospital was also recognised as one of the ‘World’s Best Smart Hospitals’ for our use of technological innovation in care.

We continually work to advance these fields of medicine by developing new minimally invasive treatments, as well as new techniques to diagnose conditions earlier.

We established Europe’s first clinics for adult congenital heart disease and adult cystic fibrosis at Royal Brompton Hospital. Both have grown to be the largest in the region for the treatment of these conditions.

Harefield Hospital is home to Europe’s first successful double heart and lung transplant and remains one of the top centres in the world for these procedures.
