We are Guy’s and St Thomas’ Specialist Care
We’re here to create positive change in the lives of patients and their families by bringing together expertise and excellence from five of London’s world-renowned hospitals.
Each of our hospitals – Evelina London Children’s, Guy’s, Harefield, Royal Brompton and St Thomas’ – are internationally recognised for their specialisms. Collaborating as a service, we lead the way in treating the world’s most complex cases – from before birth to later in life.
Doctors around the globe refer patients to us, recognising our distinguished specialisms in diverse areas including heart and lung care, surgery, diagnostics, and women’s and children’s health.
Our consultants are at the forefront of international research, using world-first innovations and sharing their expertise and knowledge to help healthcare services across the globe evolve and flourish.
What’s more, our hospitals have a close research and education partnership with Imperial College London and King’s College London, some of the most prestigious universities for science and medicine.
We’re also proud to be part of the NHS. Income from our private patient service is reinvested into our NHS Trust for the benefit of all patients.
Expertise from world-leading hospitals
We’re pleased to share that all hospitals that make up adult and children’s services across Guy’s and St Thomas’ Specialist Care have been ranked as some of the world’s best for 2025 by Newsweek, the American weekly news magazine.
Its 2025 list of ‘World’s Best Specialized Hospitals’ is based on a global survey of tens of thousands medical professionals worldwide. The list is released annually and covers multiple areas of medicine, ranking international hospitals by specialism, based on the global survey results.
We’re very proud that Royal Brompton Hospital has been ranked 5th in pulmonology, 8th in cardiology, and 14th in cardiac surgery. St Thomas’, Guys and Harefield hospitals were also commended in the cardiology category, with Harefield receiving recognition for cardiac surgery too.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals were commended in both the obstetrics and gynaecology, urology and endocrinology rankings, while St Thomas’ Hospital received further recognition in the gastroenterology and neurology categories.
We are also delighted that the incredible team at Evelina London Children’s Hospital has been recognised in the paediatric hospitals category for the outstanding care they provide to our young patients and their families.
Finally, Guy’s, Royal Brompton and St Thomas’ hospitals were ranked as some of the ‘World’s Best Smart Hospitals’ for the use of technological innovation in care. This includes advances in the use of robotics, imaging and artificial intelligence.
Reinvesting into the NHS
Our private care services are built on the dedication of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust which has a long history of advancing care across diverse fields of medicine.
This includes establishing Europe’s first adult cystic fibrosis clinic and adult congenital heart disease unit – both of which remain the largest.
It also includes the invention of tissue typing – now crucial for successful organ transplantation, as well as new technologies to enable experts to provide remote assistance to medical teams anywhere in the world.
These stories of innovation, collaboration and progress continue today as we work to improve and extend lives.
Across our five hospitals, our world-class consultants and specialist teams access the invaluable expertise of the NHS as they provide life-changing care to our private patients.
As part of an NHS Trust, we attract some of the most talented consultants from around the globe. They are medical pioneers and patients travel to us from far and wide to receive care that’s often not available anywhere else.
Unlike other private healthcare providers, all our income is reinvested into our NHS Trust for the benefit of all patients. By choosing to receive private care with us, you are investing in the future of the NHS and driving medical innovation forward.
