Biography

Dr Tammy Hedderly is a paediatric acute neurologist and subspecialist in neuro-developmental variability. Based at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, her clinical interests are acute general neurology, paediatric movement disorders, and how these relate to neuropsychiatry, psychology and neurodevelopmental diversity.

After being awarded an innovation grant from Guy’s and St Thomas’ charity, she developed a multidisciplinary service for children with neurological and developmental difficulties such as tics, Tourette’s, stereotypies, autism spectrum and paroxysmal dyskinesias (TANDeM). Furthermore, she is a key member of a dedicated Wilson’s disease team.

Research

Working in collaboration with neurologists, psychologists, nurses and psychiatrists across Europe and the USA, she participates in several large scale research projects studying the role of genetics, infections, immunology and other environmental factors in these complex disorders.

With an interest in teaching and training, she is a senior lecturer at King’s College London, and plays a role as a mentor for the British Paediatric Neurology Association (BPNA). She works closely with patient charities such as Tourette’s Action and Neurodiversity.org.
