Mr Simon Jordan can treat a wide range of thoracic diseases and conditions. A large part of his work now involves the treatment of primary and secondary soft tissue and bone sarcomas affecting the chest.
His surgical expertise includes:
- adult and paediatric thoracic surgery
- surgery for primary lung cancer, including minimally invasive video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) lobectomy and VATS anatomical segmentectomy
- tracheobronchial surgery
- primary and metastatic chest sarcoma
- surgery for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Biography
Mr Simon Jordan is a consultant thoracic surgeon at Royal Brompton Hospitals where he treats both private and NHS patients.
He received his MD from Imperial College London for his research which investigated the inflammatory response of the lung in response to major chest surgery.
He trained in general thoracic surgery at Royal Brompton Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital and The London Chest Hospital (now part of Barts Health NHS Trust). He has also spent time training in Belfast, Bristol and Leeds.
Mr Jordan was appointed consultant thoracic surgeon at Royal Brompton Hospital in 2006 and is the chair of the cancer team at Royal Brompton Hospital.
Research interests
He was a co-investigator with Professor Michael Polkey in a novel surgical procedure in patients with severe homogenous emphysema.
He is currently a co-investigator in a trial of bronchoscopic lung volume reduction. Working with colleagues, he is trialling the thoracoscopic resection of the left stellate ganglion in children and adults with long QT syndrome (LQTS) and catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT).
