Clinical expertise

Dr Savvas Hadjiphilippou has subspecialty expertise in imaging (echocardiography) and heart failure. He has a specialist interest in valve disease and is accredited in both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography (TTE & TOE).

His practice encompasses all aspects of cardiology including hypertension, chest pain (angina), coronary artery disease, lipid disease, palpitations, arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, shortness of breath (dyspnoea) dizziness and collapse, heart failure and valvular heart disease.



Biography

Dr Savvas Hadjiphilippou graduated from King’s College London Medical School with Distinction.

Following his undergraduate studies, he undertook his clinical training in the London north-west Thames cardiology rotation and was appointed an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Cardiology at Imperial College NHS Trust in 2016.

He subsequently completed his subspecialty training in Heart Failure, Imaging and Transplant Cardiology at Harefield Hospital before being appointed as a substantive consultant to both Harefield Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


Research

Dr Hadjiphilippou’s research interests focus on cardiovascular disease prevention.

Teaching

Dr Savvas Hadjiphilippou has undertaken a postgraduate certificate in medical education and regularly teaches medical students and junior doctors.
