Clinical expertise

Dr Samah Babiker is a consultant paediatric haematologist with a sub-specialty in benign haematology, focusing on haemoglobinopathy, red cell disorders and immune haematology.

She regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

  • auto-immune haemolytic anaemia/Evans syndrome
  • autoimmune neutropenia
  • enzymopathy (G6PD deficiency, PK deficiency)
  • inherited cytopenia syndromes
  • immune thrombocytopenia
  • membranopathy (hereditary spherocytosis, elliptocytosis)
  • sickle cell disease
  • thalassaemia (alpha and beta)

She performs treatments such as:

  • bone marrow aspirate and trephine biopsy
  • transfusion and exchange blood transfusion (manual and automated apheresis)

Biography

Dr Samah Babiker is a London trained haematologist with a specialist focus on benign haematological disorders, particularly sickle cell disease, thalassaemia, red cell disorders, and immune haematology.

She practiced in Sudan and UAE, and qualified in 2009, from the University of Khartoum, Sudan. Then moved to the UK to pursue a career in haematology.

Her goals include integration of clinical care, research, and public health approaches, with a strong emphasis on early diagnosis, personalised treatment strategies, and community engagement. Committed to advancing equitable care for patients with chronic haematological conditions, and continue to contribute to both national and international research efforts.

Dr Babiker is passionate about medical education, involved in both undergraduate medical education at Kings College London and post graduate haematology training education.


Research

Dr Babiker has an cctive research portfolio as a chief investigator and principal investigator for multiple commercial and non-commercial clinical trials, predominantly studying sickle cell disease.

Sha has a specialist interest in novel therapeutic interventions, acute and chronic sickle cell complications, assessment of disease severity and genetic markers in sickle cell disease.
