Mr Asadi is a Thoracic surgeon specialising in minimally invasive thoracic surgery including robotic-assisted and video-assisted procedures for lung cancer, airway, pleural and chest wall conditions.
Mr Asadi treats these conditions:
- lung cancer and lung nodules
- mediastinal tumours including thymoma
- pleural disease and pleural effusion
- chest wall deformities (pectus excavatum and pectus carinatum)
- chest wall trauma and rib fractures
- tracheal stenosis and airway disorders

- advanced emphysema requiring lung volume reduction assessment

Biography
Mr Nizar Asadi is a consultant thoracic surgeon who treats private patients at Harefield Hospital.
He qualified in medicine at the University of Bologna in Italy in 2006 and completed his training in thoracic surgery in Italy and the UK.
He previously held a position at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
In 2017, he was appointed as a consultant thoracic surgeon at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals and in 2021, additionally appointed as the London Thoracic Lead for Getting IT Right First Time, a national programme of the NHS to improve the quality of patient care.
Mr Asadi is a clinical ambassador for Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals Charity, working to strengthen relationships between the charity, donors and the hospitals. In this role, Mr Asadi’s clinical expertise helps donors to understand the difference their support makes and deepens ties to the charity’s life-changing projects, pioneering research, and improved patient outcomes.
Research
Mr Nizar Asadi has led several research projects in adult and paediatric thoracic surgery and has presented and lectured at national and international conferences in Europe and the Middle East.
Currently, Mr Asadi is pioneering the Digital Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (D-ERAS) project, which aims to introduce digitalisation to patient recovery after surgery, and thus promote early recovery after minimal invasive thoracic surgery.
He is leading several projects that aim to digitise the NHS and currently is completing the Digital Pioneer Fellowship.
