Dr Michael Absoud specialises in autism spectrum disorder, children’s neurodevelopmental disorders and developmental epilepsy.

He regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

  • children’s complex neurodevelopmental disorders
  • autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and co-morbidities (medical and neuropsychiatric)
  • developmental epilepsy
  • neurodevelopment in neurogenetic and rare diseases
  • psychopharmacology
  • behavioural challenges in children with neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders
  • childhood disintegrative disorder
  • childhood neuroinflammatory disorders

He performs treatments such as:

  • medical management of conditions such as ADHD, autism and complex neurodevelopmental disorders
  • diagnostics for complex neurodevelopmental disorders


Biography

Dr Michael Absoud is a consultant in paediatric neurodisability and has been practicing at Evelina London Children’s Hospital since 2012.

After completing his degree in medicine in 2000, he went on to train in paediatrics at King’s College Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Oxford Children’s Hospital. In 2012, Dr Michael Absoud completed his PhD clinical research fellowship training (health and population sciences) at the Institute of Child Health, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, University of Birmingham.


Research interests

Dr Michael Absoud has a major interest in childhood complex neurodevelopmental disorders and co-morbidities in neurogenetic and acquired neurological diseases. He has been involved in clinical trial design and outcome measurement in neurodisability, via collaboration with King’s Clinical Trials Unit and Kings BRC bioinformatics unit.

His research interests include epidemiological studies and active surveillance of rare diseases as well as childhood neuroinflammatory disorders.
