Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Al-Hussaini is an internationally recognised academic cardiologist. Following her clinical training, she was awarded the prestigious National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Rare Disease Fellowship to undertake advanced research in spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). Her work has contributed significantly to improving understanding, diagnosis, and management of SCAD both in the UK and internationally.
She has played a leading role in the UK SCAD Registry and continues to contribute to major European research collaborations and international clinical guidance in this field. Her research interests also include HIV-associated cardiovascular disease, aortopathy, and metabolic cardiovascular disease.
She has authored and contributed to important scientific publications and clinical research that have helped shape contemporary cardiovascular practice and improve patient care.
Her awards and distinctions include:
- British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professional Hero Award
