Clinical expertise
Dr Antonis Pantazis is a leading expert in inherited heart muscle conditions, known as cardiomyopathies. Dr Pantazis has a special interest in all cardiomyopathies, in particular:
- hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy
- dilated cardiomyopathy
Dr Pantazis consults with patients who have heart muscle conditions, from diagnosis and medical treatment to invasive management. He has a lot of experience in the management of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO), guiding procedures such as alcohol septal ablation and surgical myectomy.
His practice also covers investigating the diagnosis of inherited conditions in family members, through family screening with clinical and genetic tests. At Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, Dr Pantazis has been instrumental in the development of the inherited cardiovascular conditions (ICC) service in accordance with his expertise. He introduced the arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) clinic to our hospitals and is leading the programme for the management of LVOTO in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Dr Pantazis has a special interest in echocardiography – investigating complex heart conditions, including heart muscle disease, valvular heart disease and ischaemic heart disease. He is also the head of the echocardiography department at North Middlesex University Hospital.
