Dr Zeeshan Khawaja is a consultant cardiologist who specialises in general cardiology with specific expertise in coronary intervention and pulmonary hypertension.

He has expertise in treating:

  • chest pain
  • breathlessness
  • hypertension
  • palpitations
  • heart valve disease

He also provides:

  • coronary angiography
  • coronary artery stenting
  • right heart catheterisation
  • advanced calcium modification in coronary artery disease


Biography

Dr Khawaja graduated from Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ School of Medicine in 2002 and completed his training in cardiology in South London, sub-specialising in coronary intervention and undertook a fellowship in structural heart disease in Brighton.

He works as a consultant cardiologist across University Hospital Lewisham, King’s College Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital specialising in the treatment of coronary artery disease, heart attacks, pulmonary embolism and pulmonary hypertension.


Research

As Co-Lead for Coronary Artery Disease across the South London Cardiovascular Network he works to improve patient outcomes and experience across the conglomerate of SE and SW London cardiology departments. He is particularly interested in new technologies and their application in healthcare including new treatments for thrombotic disease in the arteries of the lungs and calcific coronary artery disease, as well as novel technologies and AI in delivery of healthcare.

He is the author of more than 40 papers encompassing coronary artery disease, valve disease, physiology and cardiology care of patients receiving treatment for cancer.
