Clinical expertise

Dr Rubaiyat Haque is recognised as one the country’s leading allergy experts and runs the largest specialist allergy service in the UK at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital. Our allergy service is an internationally accredited Centre of Excellence.

He regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

  • drug allergy including adverse reactions to drugs
  • food allergy
  • anaphylaxis
  • hay fever (rhinitis)
  • hives

He performs treatments such as:

  • desensitisation (immunotherapy) for severe allergic reactions
  • skin prick testing
  • specific IgE blood tests
  • challenge testing


Biography

Dr Rubaiyat Haque is is one of a very small number of consultants in the UK with specialist accreditation in allergy. He studied medicine at Cambridge University, qualifying in 1995 and St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1998. After 5 years of specialist training within the allergy department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, he was appointed consultant allergist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.

He aspires to the very highest standards of clinical care.


Research

Dr Rubaiyat Haque is dedicated to ongoing research in allergy, he numerous publications on studies he has contributed to including desensitisation (immunotherapy) for severe allergic reactions, various patch testing and research on eosinophilic sialodochitis (ES).

Dr Haque sits on the Health Advisory Board at Allergy UK, the leading allergy charity in the UK. He is a Regional Specialty Adviser to The Royal College of Physicians as well as being a member of the joint immunology and allergy committee between The Royal College of Pathologists and The Royal College of Physicians (London). He is an elected council member of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
