Clinical expertise
Dr Gareth Rosser has expertise in general cardiology, treating patients with a range of conditions and symptoms including:
- angina (chest pain)
- heart failure
- syncope (collapse or loss of consciousness)
- palpitations
- hypertension (high blood pressure)
His subspecialist interest is the diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery disease. He contributes to Harefield Hospital’s heart attack service which treats patients suffering from heart attacks, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
He performs all forms of coronary artery intervention (coronary angiography and stenting) including chronic total occlusion and rotablation. When appropriate, he uses adjunctive techniques to guide treatment including pressure wire examination, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and optical coherence tomography (OCT).
Each week, he chairs a multidisciplinary team meeting at a nearby hospital to discuss patients presenting with a wide range of cardiac pathology.
He has specialist experience in:
- fractional flow reserve
- percutaneous coronary intervention
- valve repair or replacement, in particular, MitraClip
- reporting of echocardiography
- transthoracic echocardiography
- stent insertion procedures via radial access (through the arm)
He seeks to continually improve the experience for his patients with new and enhanced ways of working.

Biography
Dr Gareth Rosser is a consultant cardiologist who treats private patients at Harefield Hospital and Wimpole Street.
He qualified from the Royal Free and University College Medical School in 2007 and has worked in and around London ever since. His cardiology training was in the prestigious nort-west Thames rotation.
He completed interventional cardiology fellowships at both the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals working with some of the world’s leading cardiologists. He now works as a consultant cardiologist at Hillingdon and Harefield hospitals.
Teaching
Dr Gareth Rosser has an interest in education and trains Imperial College London medical students at both Harefield and Hillingdon Hospitals.
He is an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College London and is accredited through the Royal College of Physicians as a clinical and educational supervisor.
