Clinical expertise
Mr Anthony de Souza’s major interest lies in innovative techniques for minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and successfully performed the first robotic endoscopic CABG in the UK in 2000. He now has the largest practice of endoacab and hybrid revascularisation with a mini-incision for CABG.
He also specialises in mitral valve surgery and performs thoracoscopic minimally invasive surgery of atrial fibrillation. He is a co-investigator of a nationally-funded trial on this treatment (CASA-AF).

Biography
Mr Anthony de Souza is a graduate of Nottingham University Medical School and completed his cardiothoracic training in Leicester, Southampton and London. He was awarded the McCormack Medal from the Royal College of Surgeons of England for the best post-graduate result.
He served on the Advisory Panel for Interventional Procedures for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) and was a director of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery (ISMICS). He is now the surgery lead and chair of revascularisation at the Royal Brompton Hospital.
Teaching
Mr Anthony de Souza lectures and mentors internationally on techniques of minimally invasive and robotic surgery for coronary disease and atrial fibrillation.
