Our children’s neuroscience department at Evelina London Children’s Hospital is the largest service of its kind in Europe.

Children with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system can require complex care and specialist expertise from other medical areas.

We have a dedicated team of allied health professionals supporting the care of our young patients, including:

  • physiotherapists
  • speech and language therapists
  • occupational therapists
  • specialist nurses

Facilities designed with young patients in mind

As people with autism can get anxious in over-stimulating environments, the calming colours used in our waiting area helps patients relax and includes a ‘cocoon pod’ if they need time to disconnect from their surroundings.

Sliding walls in clinic rooms hide away medical equipment and other distractions, with hoists available to help move children with disabilities.

We also use state-of-the-art video equipment to record assessments which can be shared with parents and other health professionals assisting with care.

Multidisciplinary expertise to support patients

Our neuroscience service is fully integrated with our comprehensive range of children’s services at Evelina London to ensure we can provide end-to-end support whatever the needs of our patients may be.

Our specialist team of consultants have expertise across children’s neurology, development, neurodisability and psychiatry.

With a highly successful clinical and research portfolio, our consultants and allied health professionals lead and contribute to numerous national, European and international multicentre studies to advance care in this field.
