Our children’s neuroscience department at Evelina London Children’s Hospital is the largest service of its kind in Europe. Evelina London is also recognised as one of the world’s leading centres for children’s care.
We look after children with a range of conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, both as inpatients and outpatients.
Multidisciplinary expertise to support complex care
Children with conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord and nervous system can require complex care and specialist expertise from other medical areas.
We have a dedicated multidisciplinary team to support the care of your child, including:
- consultants in children’s neurology, neurodisability, neuromuscular disorders and neuropsychiatry
- occupational therapists
- physiotherapists
- specialist nurses
- speech and language therapists
Facilities designed with young patients in mind
As children with autism can get anxious in over-stimulating environments, the calming colours used in our waiting area helps them to relax and includes a ‘cocoon pod’ if they need time to disconnect from their surroundings.
Sliding walls in clinic rooms hide away medical equipment and other distractions, with hoists available to help move children with disabilities.
We also use state-of-the-art video equipment to record assessments which can be shared with parents and other health professionals assisting with care.
Paediatric neurological disorders
We treat a range of conditions in children that affect the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, including:
- autism and complex social communication disorder
- brain and spine infection and inflammation
- cerebral palsy
- complex epilepsy
- complex movement disorder
- neurogenetic disorders
- neuromuscular disorders
Our neuroscience service is also fully integrated with our comprehensive range of children’s services at Evelina London to ensure we can provide end-to-end support whatever the needs of our patients may be.
With a highly successful clinical and research portfolio, our consultants and allied health professionals lead and contribute to numerous national, European and international multicentre studies to advance care in this field.

Our consultants provide a range of treatments and management options, including:
- botulinim toxin (Botox) injections to treat muscle pain and stiffness
