Dr Osman Malik specialises in children’s neuropsychiatry including the management of ADHD, motor stereotypies and tics/Tourette’s syndrome.

He regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

  • attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children
  • tics/Tourette’s syndrome
  • autism
  • sleep disorders
  • motor stereotypies

He performs treatments such as:

  • clinical psychopharmacology
  • children’s habit reversal
  • exposure and response prevention (ERP) for tics


Biography

Dr Osman Malik is a consultant child and adolescent neuropsychiatrist at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, working in children’s neuroscience in the Movements disorders service and the complex neurodevelopmental disorders service.

He trained in general psychiatry at Charing Cross Imperial College training scheme before working in the children’s psychopharmacology service at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He completed higher training in child and adolescent psychiatry with a focus on neuropsychiatry at Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal London training programme.

Dr Osman Malik then worked as a consultant child and adolescent psychiatrist for community mental health services in Newham, leading the child liaison and emotional-behavioural problems team.


Research

Dr Osman Malik’s clinical interests include:

  • unusual perceptual experiences in ASD and other developmental disorders
  • psychiatric presentations in sleep disorders
  • Tourette syndrome
  • motor stereotypies and intense imagery movements
  • catatonia

He has participated in research exploring mental health difficulties in adopted children, as well as tics/Tourette’s syndrome, functional tics in children, catatonia and demand-avoidance in children.
