Clinical expertise

Dr Leila Frodsham specialises in psychosexual medicine, with particular expertise in menopause, PMDD, PGAD, and gynaecological and sexual difficulties. She also has significant experience in treating and supporting neurodivergent people.

She regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

  • tocophobia
  • intractable gynaecological pain disorders including sexual pain
  • support for couples with difficulty conceiving
  • male sexual dysfunction
  • menopause
  • difficulties with sex
  • heavy menstrual bleeding
  • polycystic ovarian syndrome

She performs treatments such as:

  • gynaecological scans
  • hysterosalpingo contrast sonography (HyCoSy)


Biography

Dr Leila Frodsham is a consultant gynaecologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.

She qualified from Leicester Medical School in 1995 before going on to undertake research at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital from 2000 to 2003.

She became an obstetrics and gynaecology consultant in 2009 and has won numerous awards for excellent patient care and teamwork before joining Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals in 2013. She was awarded trainer of the year by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology (RCOG), Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex, in 2015.

As well as working in obstetrics and gynaecology for more than 20 years, she has dual membership in the Institute of Psychosexual Medicine (IPM).


Research and teaching

Her research focus is mother-to-embryo viral transmission in assisted conception (IVF), for which she earned the Promising Young Clinician award from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) in 2004.
