Dr Haldar is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist. He regularly treats patients with cardiac problems and symptoms such as:
- palpitations
- dizziness and blackouts
- chest pain
- shortness of breath
- family history of cardiac disease
- high blood pressure
- heart murmurs
He performs interventional procedures to treat heart rhythm disorders including:
- insertion of pacemakers and defibrillators
- cardiac resynchronization therapy
- ablation therapy including treatment of supraventricular, atrial and ventricular arrhythmias
He is also experienced in diagnostics and imaging including 12 lead ECG and transthoracic echocardiography.
Dr Haldar takes pride in effective communication with patients. He takes time to explain tests and treatments, ensuring that patients are fully informed and involved in all aspects of their care.

Biography
Dr Shouvik Haldar is a consultant cardiologist and electrophysiologist based at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals with a specialist interest in the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders.
He gained his medical degree from Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School and completed cardiology training in the north-west Thames training programme and sub-speciality training at the Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Haldar was then awarded the Miriam L. Burnett fellowship in electrophysiology and devices at the University of Toronto, Canada, and furthered his training with an advanced fellowship working with world-renowned experts in the field.
Research
Dr Shouvik Haldar completed a medical doctorate research degree (MD Res) studying interventional techniques in the management of atrial fibrillation, at the National Heart and Lung Institute, at Imperial College London, and was awarded a £1.4 million NIHR research grant to conduct a randomised control trial comparing different modalities of ablation.
Publications
Dr Shouvik Haldar has a strong research record, publishing many peer-reviewed abstracts and manuscripts articles, and is an invited speaker at international conferences and meetings in the US and Europe.
Teaching
Dr Shouvik Haldar is an honorary clinical senior lecturer at Imperial College London.
He is vice-president of education at the British Cardiovascular Society and program director of the Heart Rhythm Congress and London Arrhythmia Summit.
