Dr Oldershaw is a consultant cardiologist with clinical expertise in several areas, including:
- general cardiology
- ischaemic heart disease
- valvular heart disease
- heart failure and angina
Biography
Dr Paul Oldershaw studied medicine at Cambridge University where he was a senior scholar and took a double first degree in medical sciences and natural sciences. He then won a University scholarship to St Thomas’ Hospital where he completed his medical training. Dr Oldershaw qualified in 1973 and following medical school, he took a junior medical post at St Thomas’ Hospital, St George’s Hospital and Royal Brompton Hospital, and he was appointed as a consultant at Royal Brompton Hospital in 1982.
Research
His research interest is in left and right ventricular function, and his MD thesis was on left ventricular hypertrophy.
Publications
Dr Oldershaw has more than 100 publications in high-profile journals and has written 6 textbooks on cardiology.
