Miss Alison Hainsworth is a consultant colorectal surgeon with a specialist interest in pelvic floor dysfunction.

She regularly treats patients with conditions such as:

She performs treatments such as:

Biography

Miss Alison Hainsworth is a consultant colorectal surgeon specialising in pelvic floor and colorectal cancer surgery. She is currently the pelvic floor lead at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

Miss Hainsworth trained at Imperial College, London and her surgical training was in the South West Thames region and South Australia. Her MD thesis explored the use of integrated total pelvic floor ultrasound in defaecatory dysfunction.

Surgeries offered include laser treatment (for haemorrhoids, fistula and pilonidal sinus disease), sacral neuromodulation and minimally invasive surgical approaches.


Research

Miss Alison Hainsworth is an active researcher and supervises PhD and BSc students, with research focused on imaging (including integrated total pelvic floor and endoanal ultrasound) and the treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction.

She regularly chairs international and national courses and workshops to teach integrated total pelvic floor and endoanal ultrasound, and anorectal physiology.

Alison is a committee member of the International Continence Society and member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI).
